Functional Medicine
-
Functional Medicine is a root-cause approach to health that goes beyond managing symptoms. Rather than asking “what condition do you have?” it asks “why are you experiencing this, and what underlying factors are contributing?” Using advanced lab testing, detailed health history, and natural treatment methods including supplements, herbal medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle counseling, Functional Medicine addresses the body as a whole interconnected system — creating lasting healing rather than symptom management.
-
Conventional medicine excels at diagnosing and treating acute conditions and disease. Functional Medicine complements this by focusing on prevention, optimization, and the complex chronic concerns that often fall through the cracks of standard care — things like hormonal imbalances, unexplained fatigue, digestive issues, and fertility challenges. Many of Megan’s patients come to her after years of being told their labs are “normal” despite not feeling well.
-
It begins with a comprehensive initial consultation — a deep, unhurried conversation about your full health history, current symptoms, and goals. From there, Megan may recommend advanced lab testing to identify underlying imbalances. Follow-up appointments review your results and build out your personalized protocol, which may include nutritional guidance, supplementation, lifestyle recommendations, and herbal medicine.
-
The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on the complexity of your case, your health goals, and the findings from your initial evaluation. Once Megan has completed your intake and reviewed any relevant testing, she will create a customized plan tailored to your specific needs, timeline, and goals.
-
Megan uses Functional Medicine to support a wide range of conditions including hormonal imbalances, PCOS/PMOS, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, perimenopause and menopause, fertility challenges, prenatal and postpartum care, stress and anxiety, sleep disruption, digestive concerns, and general family wellness.
-
Yes — all Functional Medicine consultations are conducted via telehealth, making them accessible to California residents throughout the state.
Fertility Support
-
Megan works with individuals and couples at every stage of the fertility journey — whether you are just beginning to try to conceive, preparing for or currently undergoing IVF or IUI, navigating unexplained infertility, recovering from pregnancy loss, or seeking support after a previous failed treatment. No matter where you are, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
-
Yes, and she does so regularly. Megan collaborates closely with reproductive endocrinologists, OB-GYNs, doulas, and midwives to provide truly integrative care. Her role is to complement and support your existing fertility treatment, not replace it.
-
There is a growing body of research supporting the role of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in fertility support, from regulating menstrual cycles and improving ovarian function to reducing stress and supporting implantation. Megan combines these ancient modalities with modern functional medicine testing to create a comprehensive, evidence-informed approach to fertility care.
-
Every patient’s journey is different. Megan builds a customized timeline based on your individual health history, goals, and lab findings. During your initial consultation, she will give you a clearer picture of what to expect for your specific situation.
-
It means she brings something to this work that goes beyond clinical training: lived experience. Megan knows firsthand how isolating, exhausting, and emotionally complex the fertility journey can be. That understanding shapes the way she listens, the way she communicates, and the depth of care she brings to every patient she works with.
Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
-
Your first visit includes a thorough review of your health history and goals, a complete evaluation, and your first treatment — all in one session. Megan will take the time to understand your needs and discuss which modalities will best support your care. Initial appointments are typically 75–90 minutes.
-
Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable Acupuncture is. The needles used are extremely fine, much thinner than a standard medical needle, and many people feel little to no sensation upon insertion. Some patients experience a mild tingling, warmth, or a sense of heaviness at the needle site, which is a normal and often welcome sign that the treatment is working. Many people find their sessions deeply relaxing.
-
In addition to Acupuncture, Megan’s sessions may incorporate herbal medicine, acupressure, ear seeds, gua sha, moxibustion, and cupping — depending on what your body needs. Each modality is a time-honored tool with its own role in restoring balance and supporting the body’s natural healing process. Your treatment will always be fully customized.
-
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can support a wide range of conditions including fertility and reproductive health, hormonal imbalances, menstrual irregularities, prenatal and postpartum care, stress and anxiety, sleep disruption, pain management, digestive health, immune support, and general wellbeing.
-
All acupuncture and TCM sessions take place at Megan’s studio inside The Bloom Room, located at 30200 Rancho Viejo Rd, Suite D, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675.
-
Absolutely — and for many patients, this combination is where the most powerful results happen. In-person TCM sessions and virtual functional medicine or fertility programs are designed to complement each other seamlessly, offering a truly integrative approach to your care.
